Allens commits to halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030

Allens has adopted a firm-wide greenhouse gas emissions reduction target. The firm will take steps to reduce its scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent by FY2030, from a base year of FY2019.

The science-based target is in line with global best practice and has been independently assessed and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The firm is one of only 28 Australian-based organisations, and the only Australian-based law firm, to have a near-term science-based emissions reduction target approved by the SBTi.

‘We are pleased to have set an ambitious science-based emissions reduction target and look forward to making progress towards it over the coming years,’ said Managing Partner Richard Spurio.

‘As we work with clients on their transition to net-zero, we are committed to doing our part as well.’

Allens has a long-held commitment to reducing its impacts on the environment. It was the first Australian organisation to sign the United Nations Global Compact in 2001 and the first Australian law firm to be certified carbon neutral under the Australian Government’s Climate Active Program in December 2014.
