A P-plater has lost his car and had his licence suspended after he was detected allegedly driving at 178km/h in an 80km/h zone in South Morang yesterday.
The vehicle was intercepted on Plenty Road just after 2.30pm.
The 18-year-old driver, who had only held his probationary driver’s licence for about a month, was arrested.
The car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $895.
The Beveridge man was charged with reckless conduct endangering life, exceed speed limit by 45km/h or more, breaching licence conditions and other traffic related offences.
He has been bailed to appear in Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court in December.
