AMENDED SELECTION CRITERIA FOR 2024 WORLD CUPS AND GRAND PRIX

In lieu of the ISSF’s decision to not make QROGs available at the Final Olympic Qualification Championships in Rio De Janeiro (Pistol/Rifle) in April, and with respect to the Paris 2024 Olympic Nomination process that is now well-progressed, Shooting Australia has given careful consideration to what is in the best interests of the athletes, and the Olympic Campaign.

Australian athletes aspiring to be selected to the 2024 Australian Olympic Team (the athletes that finish in the top three of the leaderboard at the conclusion of the domestic competitions across 10m Air Pistol Men and Women, 10m Air Rifle Men and Women, 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men, 25m Pistol Women) will compete in Rio De Janeiro as the international component of the Pistol/Rifle Olympic Nomination Competition series. Although QROGs are not available at this competition, there is still an opportunity for Australia to win additional Olympic quotas.

At the conclusion of the competition in Rio, the athletes that finish on top of the leaderboard but have not earned a QROG, will be provided the opportunity to attend the ISSF World Cup Baku (AZB) in May and the ISSF World Cup Munich (GER) in June, to try and earn a QROG and therefore be eligible for nomination and selection to the Paris Games.

As a result of the above, an amendment to the 2024 World Cup & Grand Prix Selection Criteria (as published 16 November, 2023) was required. Please refer to APPENDIX 2: RIFLE and PISTOL SELECTION PROCESS in the updated selection criteria.
