AMSA Submissions from MUA

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) is the regulator at almost every touchpoint of MUA membership. Consequently the MUA are heavily invested in changes that AMSA want to make to Marine Orders or regulations in the Maritime Industry. Lately AMSA have been attempting to make changes to Marine Order (MO505) Qualifications & Marine Order (MO21) Safety and Emergency Arrangements. The MUA have made submissions objecting to these diminishing standards and call for stronger regulations.

AMSA have also come under fire recently for their poor performance in the field in which they are the regulator “Maritime Safety”. AMSA continue to try and outsource their regulatory function to private surveyors and in the case of vessel safety management to the Owner/Operator determining their own safety and manning requirements.
