Another boost for Tasmanian advanced manufacturing

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is continuing to support our advanced manufacturers to innovate, expand and create new jobs and opportunities through our Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant Program.

The second round of the program is now open for applications to help Tasmanian companies become more competitive, resilient, and able to scale up to better compete in global markets.

Our $3 million Accelerating Growth Grant Program encourages advanced manufacturers to invest in new equipment, allowing them to enter new markets and increase employment opportunities.

Grants of between $10,000 and $100,000 are available to Tasmanian-based advanced manufacturers with annual sales turnover of between $500,000 and $30 million.

The grants provide an up to 50 per cent contribution towards the purchase of equipment and funding is offered on the basis of applicants contributing at least half of the total project cost.

The second round is expected to be highly competitive following the success of Round One which saw eight successful applicants sharing more than $707,000 for projects totaling an estimated $ 5.3 million in investment.

Round One alone is predicted to create almost 60 new ongoing local jobs once the projects are complete.

Manufacturing is the fifth-largest industry in Tasmania generating turnover of more than $7 billion a year and employing 18,000 people, and the Tasmanian Liberal Government has a strong record of backing in these critical industry sectors, and we will continue to support their future growth to be world leaders in manufacturing excellence.

Round two of the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant Program opened today Monday, 31 January 2022 at 2pm and closes on Friday, 25 March 2022.
