Police are pleased to report there were no major incidents on the final night of Schoolies.
Three teenagers were arrested for behavioural offences. Two 17-year-old school leavers were arrested in separate incidents at 8.40pm and 11.15pm on Sunday 25 November for offensive language. Just before 3am on Monday 26 November, an 18-year-old Schoolie was arrested for hinder and resist police.
A total of 24 expiation notices were given to Schoolies for drinking in a ‘dry zone’, again down on the first night tally of over 50.
Superintendent Mark Fairney said “Overall, it has been another successful event, with no major incidents or injuries. The success is due in a large part to the extensive planning and organisation throughout the year by stakeholders, in particular Encounter Youth and SA Police.
“Our focus today will be on road safety as the Festival winds up and Schoolies head for home. We want to see every school leaver get home safely.”
SAPOL’s Road Safety Section have had a highly visible presence throughout the Schoolies Festival conducting voluntary breath testing within the caravan parks at Victor Harbor, Middleton, Port Elliott and Goolwa.
The voluntary tests help educate Schoolies (who must have ZERO alcohol in their system as a condition of their licences) on the dangers of driving after a night of partying at the Festival.
