Anthony Torre charged with stealing and fraud

On 17 June 2022, Mr Anthony Paul Torre, of Mosman Park, Western Australia, appeared at the Perth Magistrates Court charged with eight counts of fraud and five counts of stealing pursuant to sections 409 and 378 of the Criminal Code (WA).

Following an ASIC investigation, it is alleged that between March 2010 and January 2015, Mr Torre stole, or with intent to defraud obtained, approximately $1.882 million from his clients.

It is alleged that Mr Torre used funds from his clients’ accounts for his own benefit.

This matter is being prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

The matter has been adjourned to 16 September 2022.

Background

The maximum penalty for each offence of stealing under the Criminal Code WA is seven years imprisonment. The maximum penalty for each offence of fraud under the Criminal Code WA is seven years imprisonment or 10 years if the person deceived is of or over 60 years.
