Appeal after driver fails to stop in Berala

Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was struck by a car and seriously injured in Sydney’s west today.

Emergency services were called to Campbell Street, Berala, about 11.45am (Thursday 10 September 2020) following reports a man had been hit by a car and the driver failed to stop.

Police have been told the 54-year-old man was on a pedestrian crossing when he was struck by a silver Mercedes travelling south.

The man suffered serious head injuries and was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended and commenced an investigation.

As part of inquiries, officers are seeking to locate a late model silver Mercedes, possibly a C200 sedan, which may have damage to the bonnet.
