Appeal after home invasion – Chester Hill

Police are investigating after a man was injured during a home invasion in Sydney’s southwest yesterday.

About 4.40pm (Thursday 28 September 2023), emergency services were called to Esme Avenue, Chester Hill, following reports of shots fired.

Police have been told five men forced entry to the home and threatened the occupants with several weapons, including a baseball bat and a firearm.

One of the men hit a 46-year-old woman with the bat, before another man discharged the firearm which wounded a 48-year-old man.

The group left the scene in two dark coloured sedans.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, however he did not require hospital treatment.

The woman also did not require further treatment.

A number of children were home at the time of the incident but were not injured.

A crime scene has been established by officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continuing.
