Appeal after reports robber impersonated police officer at Hurstville, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance after reports a man impersonated a police officer and robbed two men in Sydney’s south west earlier today.

About 5am (Saturday 5 September 2020), an unknown male approached two men on Forest Road, Hurstville.

Police have been told he told the pair he was a police officer and asked them for identification and told them to empty their pockets

Both men, aged 24 and 33, placed their belongings on the ground before the man left with cash in the direction of Hurstville Railway Station.

The incident was reported to officers attached to St George Police Area Command who commenced an investigation.

As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of African appearance, about 183cm tall, of skinny build, with short black curly hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hoodie with black and yellow tracksuit pants.
