Appeal for assistance as investigations commence into house fire – Guildford West

Police are appealing for public assistance after a home was deliberately set on fire in Sydney’s south west.

About 1.15am today (Friday 12 June 2026), emergency services responded to reports of a house fire in Hunt Street, Guildford West.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire which caused extensive damage to the home.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.

A number of empty fuel cans and gas bottles were located within the premises.

The home is currently vacant which has been the subject of previous arson attacks and drive by shootings.

Police have been informed that two persons were seen at the premises immediately before the fire started.

The persons were then seen to enter a silver sedan which drove north along Lomond Street.

As inquiries continue police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or was in the area at the time with any relevant dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Granville Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
