Rural Crime Investigators are appealing for assistance after multiple vehicles were stolen in the state’s Central West Region.
Officers attached to the Rural Crime Prevention Team at Central West Police District commenced investigations following numerous vehicle thefts in Parks and Tottenham between March 2025 and January 2026.
About 6.30am on Saturday 29 March 2025, two men forced entry into a towing business on Royal Street, Parkes, before stealing a Mitsubishi ute and driving it through a locked gate.
The vehicle was later recovered on Barton Street, Parkes.
About 2.30am on Tuesday 25 November 2025, two men forced entry into a property on Back Yamma Road, Parkes, before stealing a UTV, ramming a gate and driving through a fence.
The utility, worth $18,500, was later recovered at the intersection of Henderson Street and Cons Lane, Parkes.
About 5.50am on Saturday 24 January 2026, a Toyota Land Cruiser was stolen from a property on Bobadal Road, Tottenham.
About 7.30am the same day, a second vehicle was located burnt out on Moira Vale Road, Tottenham.
The Land Cruiser has since been recovered in bushland off the Yarrabandai Road, Forbes.
All vehicles were seized for forensic examination.
Following extensive inquiries, police believe all three incidents are linked.
During investigations, just before 2pm on Tuesday 5 August 2025, police arrested a 33-year-old man at an address in Parkes and taken to Parkes Police Station.
He was charged with drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner/occupier and breach of bail.
The man granted conditional bail to appear before Parkes Local Court on Thursday 21 August 2025, where he has seen been refused bail to re-appear on Wednesday 18 March 2026.
On Friday 15 May 2026, a 27-year-old man was served a Court Attendance Notice for take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
He was set to appear before Muswellbrook Local Court on Tuesday 16 June 2026 and has seen been dealt with by the court.
As investigations continue, police have CCTV footage and images of two men they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The men are described as being of Caucasian appearance and are depicted wearing a hi-vis shirt and jacket.
