Appeal for information after scooter and bicycle crash at Rooty Hill – Strike Force Yari

Police are appealing for public information after a crash in Sydney’s north-west last year.

About 3.30pm on Wednesday 30 July 2022, emergency services were called to the M7 Cycleway, Rooty Hill, following reports of a crash involving a scooter and a bicycle.

The rider and the passenger of the scooter both fled allegedly the scene immediately after the crash.

The cyclist – a 31-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for leg and arm injuries before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command commenced inquiries into the incident before the Crash Investigation Unit took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Yari.

As inquiries continue, police have released images of two men they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

The rider of the scooter is described as 20 to 25-years-old, about 170cm to 175cm tall, and of a thin build. He was wearing a black balaclava, black puffer vest, blue jumper, black DKNY pants, with white Nike TN shoes.

The passenger is described as 15 to 20-years-old and about 160 to 165cm tall. He was wearing a black hoody and black tracksuit pants.

Investigations are continuing.
