Appeal over act of cruelty against a three-week-old kitten in Pyrmont

Police are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate an act of cruelty against a kitten in Pyrmont.

On Tuesday 18 February 2020, police have been told a three-week-old kitten had been tied up in a garbage bag and thrown down an embankment into a vacant lot in Jones Street, near Wentworth Park.

About 5.30pm that day, a passerby heard the kitten crying for help and took the animal to a nearby veterinarian for treatment. The kitten has since made a full recovery.

About 5pm yesterday (Tuesday 25 February 2020), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were notified and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward.

They also urge anyone with dashcam or CCTV vision in that area to make contact with investigators.
