Appeal over fatal hit-and-run crash at Freshwater, NSW

Police remain on the scene of a fatal fail-to-stop crash in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

About 5.45am today (Saturday 22 February 2020), emergency services were called to Oliver Street in Freshwater, following reports a man was lying injured on the roadway.

On arrival, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command located a man, believed to be aged in his 50s, deceased. He has not been formally identified.

Officers established a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest the man was struck by a vehicle, not further described, which has failed to stop.

Investigators are urging any witnesses to the crash or anyone with dashcam vision of the incident to come forward.
