A man and woman will face court today after multiple alleged pursuits in Sydney’s Eastern Beaches.
About 7.15pm yesterday (Saturday 31 October 2026), officers attached to Botany Bay Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting stationary drug and alcohol testing on Anzac Parade, Malabar, when a ute allegedly failed to stop for police.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
Police will allege the driver reached speeds of up to 100km/h in a signposted 50km/h speed zone and entered the incorrect side of the roadway.
The driver then entered a golf course on Coast Hospital Road, Little Bay, before the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the driver abandoned the ute and allegedly left the scene on foot.
Following inquiries, just before 8pm the same day, police located the driver in a second vehicle – a white hatchback – travelling along Anzac Parade, Little Bay.
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Solarch Avenue, Little Bay, where the hatchback came to a stop before allegedly reversing into a marked police vehicle.
Both occupants of the car – a 38-year-old man and 45-year-old woman – were arrested at the scene.
There were no injuries reported, and the police car sustained minor damage.
The 38-year-old man was subjected to roadside testing which returned a negative result.
The pair were taken to Maroubra Police Station where the 38-year-old man was charged with,
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (two counts)
- Fail to comply with request or signal to stop vehicle
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Class A motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 45 km/h, and
- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
The 45-year-old woman was charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
They were both refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 7 today (Sunday 1 November 2026)
