Applications are open for manager and supervisor positions at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre

Manager and supervisor positions at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre (AGCC) are open for application through an open merit selection process. All officers presently working in these roles at AGCC are encouraged to apply.

Operation Certitude has made significant progress in the past month with key decisions regarding the staffing model, and under the new staffing model, QCS will need to recruit for more manager and supervisor positions than currently exist in the centre.

The new positions form part of approximately 200 additional FTE required at the centre. This is on top of transitioning officers.

The roles of the General Manager and Deputy General Manager will be temporarily filled through an internal Expression of Interest and then advertised post-transition in an open merit process.

Executive Lead Deputy Commissioner Organisational Capability James Koulouris said that the decision to undertake an open merit process was made following extensive consultation and consideration for how the centre would run under the QCS model.

“Running a remand centre is a complex operation and we will draw on existing and new talent to appoint the best leadership team at AGCC,” Deputy Commissioner Koulouris said.

“To date, more than 400 GEO and QCS non-managerial officers completed the Notification of Interest to work at AGCC. Security and integrity checks are nearing completion, and offers of employment will be made as soon as possible.”
