Applications now open for Stonnington Environmental Champions program

Have an idea about how you could make Stonnington cleaner, greener and more sustainable?

Now is your chance to make those ideas a reality! Applications are now open for the 2022 Stonnington Environmental Champions Program. The free program runs for 12 sessions across 4 months and is suited to local members of the community who are passionate about the environment and creating local change.

Our 2022 program will run from August – November, offering training and support to develop leadership and project development skills to enable the delivery of grass-roots, community-led local environmental projects.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Councillor Jami Klisaris, said she’s keen to see this year’s Environmental Champions start exploring ways to combat the impacts of climate change.

“We want to develop and empower the leaders within our own community to take the steps to make transformational change.

By working together as a community, we are working towards a more sustainable future.

“I encourage anyone who is passionate about helping to build a more sustainable, resilient and connected Stonnington to apply,” she said.

Successful applicants will engage in interactive training workshops, get an insider view into Council’s environmental initiatives, learn from a range of experts, and connect with local community groups and Traditional Owners. Champions will learn about climate change, the local environment, leadership, behaviour change and how to turn an idea into a project to achieve meaningful impacts for the Stonnington community.
