Calling all Champions of the Palaszczuk Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.
Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman announced applications are open for the next round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work along with applications for the new Champions program.
“From as far north as the Torres Strait and Cape York, through western Queensland and along the coast, this program is getting Queenslanders the work ready skills and training they need to get a job and build a career,” Ms Fentiman said.
“Each person with their own amazing success story while boosting their confidence and skills to get a job.”
“If completing a Skilling Queenslanders for Work project or traineeship has helped you find a new job in an industry you’re passionate about, we want you to be a Champion and tell others about your experience.
“Our Champions will showcase how the program has changed their life and opened pathways into rewarding careers.
Minister Fentiman said eligible organisations have until 5pm Thursday 26 September to submit their applications for funding under the next round of Skilling Queenslanders for Work.
“The Palaszczuk government has made jobs our number one priority and Skilling Queenslanders for Work has already assisted 24,000 people to find a job,” Ms Fentiman said.
Under the latest round announced last month, $43.8 million was committed to assist more than 6,700 Queenslanders across 211 projects.
“Projects provide participants with wrap around support while learning skills that will improve their chances of finding work with employers and industries in their community,” she said.
“Seventy-three per cent of participants find work, take on further training or return to school around 12 months after exiting a Skilling Queenslanders for Work project.”
