Applications Open For Teaching Excellence Program 2024

VIC Premier

Talented teachers inspirestudents to reach their full potential – and the Andrews Labor Government is supporting and developing their skills through our Teaching Excellence Program (TEP).

500 of our best and brightest teachers across the state will take part in TEP, offered through the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership – supporting and challenging them to take their teaching to exceptional new levels.

Minister for Education Natalie Hutchins today announced that applications are open for the 2024 TEP, a year-long training program for teachers to explore unique ways of making learning meaningful for their students.

TEP is open to teachers with at least 3 years’ experience, and involves conferences, subject specific study days, learning communities for participants to share their ideas, as well as self-directed projects to test their new and improved skills.

During the program, Master teachers – highly-trained specialists in the key learning areas of Arts, English, Humanities, Languages, Technologies, Science, Mathematics and Health and Physical Education – also provide expert guidance and wisdom to participants.

This is the first year-long professional learning program of its kind in Australia – encouraging teachers to bring big, new ideas to their classrooms and share modern, cutting-edge ways of teaching with colleagues.

Once graduated from the program, teachers can apply for a Teaching Innovation Fellowship grant through the Academy to receive ongoing support and take their learning even further.

The Labor Government invested $148.2 million in 2022 to open the Academy’s first campus in East Melbourne – with regional campuses opening in Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Mildura, Moe and Shepparton, making sure rural and regional teachers can access quality professional development close to their schools.
