Aquatic Centre to close Sunday night

The Orange Aquatic Centre will close from 7pm Sunday night 10 October, in order to comply with the latest NSW Health Orders affecting indoor public pools throughout the state.

Orange City Council will close the centre, following a change to the NSW Government’s regulations covering indoor pools.

“Orange City Council will continue to comply with the NSW Governments Health Orders,” CEO David Waddell said. “For that reason the Aquatic Centre has to close.”

Learn to Swim classes are expanding

CLOSURE: Learn to Swim classes will be cancelled from Monday 11 October.

“There are unavoidable impacts for taking the decision to close a facility that’s very important to the community. I’m asking all pool users to continue to be patient at this time, and we apologise for this inconvenience.

“There are just over 1600 local children registered for Learn-to-Swim classes that we are unable to now deliver from next week. We are also unable to begin squad training.

“The indoor pool is an important venue for members of our disabled community and for people undergoing rehabilitation.”

The outdoor pool is yet to re-open for summer.

“As anyone trying to do any construction work knows, there are delays on receiving parts due to the pandemic. We’re waiting on parts for equipment before the outdoor pool can re-open for swimming.

“But even when the outdoor pool is functioning again, it’s not able to be used for Learn-to-Swim classes due to the depth of water and the temperature of the pool.”
