Archer continues to stall Burnie community on court house move

Tasmanian Labor

The Rockliff-Ferguson Government has finally responded to a petition reflecting widespread community concern over the relocation of the Burnie Courthouse – but again failed to detail any future proposals.

Attorney-General Elise Archer’s response to the petition signed by almost 1,200 Burnie residents opposed to the relocation of the courthouse to suburban Mooreville Road was tabled in the Parliament today, two weeks after it was due and containing no new information.

In addition, Ms Archer has been silent now for almost a month on what future plans she has for the relocation since her call for expressions of interest for a new CBD site closed on May 18.

This has been going on for long enough. Ms Archer has brought enough anxiety to the community.

She needs to tell Burnie residents if she has a new site or if she is going to backflip on Mooreville Rd and if she will not, the Premier needs to step in.
