Are you prepared for upcoming fire season?

The fire danger period has now been declared effective from Monday, November 27.

Inspections of properties for fire hazards will start on this date.

Owners/occupiers whose properties are overgrown or contain derelict cars, buildings or other rubbish which constitute a fire hazard are requested to clean them up as soon as possible.

Fire risk will be high this summer due to prolific growth and expected dry conditions.

Following the identification of properties as a potential risk, Fire Prevention Notices will be issued where necessary, requiring hazards to be removed within 14 days of the notice.

Non-compliance with directions will result in work being carried out by the council at the expense of the owners.

The penalty for non-compliance is now a $1923 infringement notice.

The council urges residents to prepare now for the oncoming fire season for a safe summer.
