ARLC pays tribute to victims in Lebanon

The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) will tonight honour the victims of the tragic explosion in Beirut, Lebanon with a moment’s silence before kick-off in both games.

A moment’s silence will also be observed prior to the Melbourne Storm v Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs match tomorrow.

ARLC Chairman Peter V’landys AM said the rugby league community stood united with Australia’s Lebanese community and all of Lebanon.

“This tragedy has rocked the rugby league community. Rugby League wouldn’t be what it is today without the influence of the Lebanese community. So many of our players have come from Lebanese families, so much of the colour in our crowds are from Lebanese fans,” he said.

“Rugby League is a game that brings communities and cultures together. It is fitting to honour and pay tribute to the victims in Lebanon, a nation that means so much to us all.”
