Armed Crime Squad charge two after shooting incident in Malvern East

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man and a woman following an alleged shooting in Malvern East earlier this month.

Police were called to an address on Warrigal Road following reports that a man had been injured and a firearm discharged about 11.10pm on 13 July.

A 53-year-old man was conveyed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As part of the investigation detectives executed a warrant at an address on Station Road in Oak Park on Thursday 16 July.

As a result of the warrant detectives allegedly found drugs, cash, a firearm and an amount of ammunition.

At the address investigators arrested a 53-year-old man and a 43-year-old Oak Park woman.

The man has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, reckless conduct endangering life, prohibited person use a firearm, commit an indictable offence while on bail and fail to comply with requirement of Authorised Officer (Covid).

The woman was charged with traffick commercial quantity of GHB, traffick cannabis, deal proceeds of crime and possess ammunition.

Both were remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this morning.
