Armed man charged in Wamuran, QLD

Police have charged a man following a series of alleged offences today in Wamuran.

Around 10am police attempted to intercept an alleged stolen vehicle at Del Rossa Road in Caboolture.

The vehicle then allegedly evaded police travelling west on D’Aguilar Highway towards Woodford where the driver produced a firearm and pointed it through the window at police.

It will be further alleged, the driver then drove the vehicle off-road into the forestry, abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Around 2.30pm, the man was located at a near-by rural property and taken into custody.

A 30-year-old man from Caboolture South was charged with evading police, driving without a licence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a short firearm in public and possessing explosive and three counts of serious assault of a police officer while armed with a weapon. He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court tomorrow.
