Armed robbery on train between Footscray and Melton

Detectives from the Transit Crime Investigation Unit are hoping to identify two men following an armed robbery on a train last month.

Investigators have been told the male victim was waiting for the Ballarat bound train at Footscray Railway Station on Sunday March 22 about 6.20pm.

Prior to boarding the train, the 16-year-old victim spoke to an unknown man on the platform.

The unknown man and another man followed the victim onto the train and sat in front of him.

As the train travelled west, the men threatened the victim with a weapon, before disembarking at Melton with the victim’s phone and AirPods.

Investigators have released images of two men who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The first man is perceived to be African in appearance, about 190cm tall aged in his late teen or early 20s and has braided short hair.

He was wearing a blue puffer vest with hood and light grey Tommy Hilfiger track pants with a logo down the left leg.

The second man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance and aged between 25 and 30 years.

He was wearing a black ‘New York Yankees’ cap and a windcheater with distinctive motif.
