A man has been arrested following a death in Central Auckland last night.
Emergency services were called to Wellesley Street East about 6.45pm after a report of a grievous assault involving people known to each other.
A man was located with critical injuries and was transported to hospital but had passed away upon arrival.
One person was taken into custody, and Police are not looking for anyone else in relation.
A scene guard is in place while our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
A 23-year-old man will appear in the Auckland District Court today charged with murder.
