Art Gallery Redevelopment moving forward

Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery is about to embark on an exciting journey as they enter the much-anticipated building redevelopment phase.

Art Gallery Director, Ian Tully said a construction tender for the redevelopment would soon be announced.

“We’re thrilled to be getting closer to seeing the real action commence. We have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes, but I know that once our community starts to see progress on the ground, it will be when the real excitement begins.

We can’t wait to watch this new space unveil,” Mr Tully said.

Mr Tully said once the construction stage commences later this year, the Gallery would be working from a temporary pop-up space.

“We’re delighted to confirm that the Galleries temporary pop-up space will be nestled within Swan Hill Regional Library.

“It will be designed to accommodate essential features, including a small gift shop, a dedicated workstation for gallery staff, and a versatile area for conducting workshops and public programs.

“This temporary arrangement will ensure that our gallery functions can continue to flourish while the Gallery undergoes its redevelopment,” Mr Tully said.

Mr Tully said the community was set to benefit in multiple ways from this collaboration.

“New audiences for both the library and the gallery are a primary goal, residents will have the opportunity to navigate between literary and visual arts.

“We anticipate that the wins will include increased visitation, and the potential for exhibitions to draw upon the library’s resources,” he said.

It is expected that the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery will be temporarily relocating in the second half of the year.
