Ashurst Perkins Coie client World Labs exits in bold $8 billion transaction

LOS ANGELES (October 8, 2026)—Ashurst Perkins Coie is proud to congratulate longtime client World Labs, a leading spatial intelligence company, after signing a definitive agreement to join AMD, a leader in adaptive computing and semiconductor products. The transaction is valued at approximately $8.2 billion and is expected to close by the end of 2026.

Founded by AI pioneer Dr. Fei-Fei Li, World Labs aims to advance spatial intelligence by building world models that can perceive, generate, reason, and interact with the 3D world. In September, the company launched its groundbreaking, next-generation world model, Atlas. Atlas can render imagined worlds for creative users, simulate the real world in high fidelity, and help robots plan actions.

Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Partner (ECVC) Matt Oshinsky, Counsel Suzana Gadzo, and Associate Kaina Pengilly began working with Li and the other founders in 2023, helping form World Labs and subsequently coordinating comprehensive legal support for the company.

“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to support World Labs and see them grow from a core team and a vision, working in the earliest days out of conference rooms in our San Francisco office, to a multibillion-dollar market leader in the development of spatial intelligence,” Matt said. “Ashurst Perkins Coie and World Labs share values rooted in curiosity and innovation, and we look forward to seeing what World Labs can accomplish in partnership with AMD.”
