Assault and torture charges in Coomera, QLD

Taskforce Maxima officers have charged a 38-year-old man following an alleged assault and torture of a 30-year-old man at Upper Coomera across the Easter long weekend.

The 30-year-old man attended a residence in Upper Coomera on Sunday, April 4, where he was allegedly assaulted in the front yard.

He was then allegedly forcibly moved to an Eagleby address where he was further assaulted and tortured with a hammer, gas burner and knife.

He was able to leave the residence the following morning and sought medical attention. He did not sustain any life-threatening injuries.

The two men were known to each other.

Taskforce Maxima executed a warrant at a Redbank Plains address today where a 38-year-old Eagleby man was arrested.

He has subsequently been charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of armed robbery and deprivation of liberty. He was also charged with one count each of torture, possessing dangerous drugs and utensils.

The man was granted police bail to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 30.

Investigations continue.
