Assault investigation at Coomera, QLD

Police are investigating after a man was seriously assaulted by the driver of a vehicle which had been tailgating him at Coomera this afternoon.

At around 4pm a 53-year-old man and his 64-year-old female passenger, had been travelling northbound on the Old Pacific Motorway at Coomera, when they pulled over to the side of the road due to the manner of driving of a blue vehicle following them.

The driver of the blue car also pulled over with the male driver approaching their car and hitting and cracking the windscreen with an unknown implement.

The 53-year-old Eagleby man exited his vehicle and was punched several times in the head knocking him to the ground.

A vehicle travelling southbound saw the incident and pulled over resulting in the driver of the blue car returning to his vehicle and speeding off.

Soon after a passing police patrol came across the unconscious man and rendered first aid.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant dash cam vision to contact them (details below).
