The Cairns Mountain Bike Club Inc will receive $7,280 (ex GST) in Council funding to determine the economic impacts of mountain biking in Cairns.
Mountain biking is increasing in popularity around the world and the Smithfield mountain bike path is recognised as a world-class asset.
The 2017 Mountain Bike World Championships were held at the site and this year it will host the Crankworx World Tour.
The Economic Impact of Mountain Biking in Cairns Project will consider the mountain biking sector based on existing assets and events, as well as impacts of an expanded trail network.
