ATTEMPTED AGGRAVATED ARMED ROBBERY OF A TAXI DRIVER – MAIN ROAD at GLENORCHY

Around 8:30pm on Sunday 16th August 2020, Police attended Main Road, Glenorchy, near the Northgate Shopping Centre, in relation to an attempted aggravated armed robbery.

The incident involved a group of four men who allegedly approached and surrounded a taxi which was parked on Main Road, Glenorchy.

One of the men opened the driver’s door demanding money from the driver. This man has stated he had a knife and attempted to punch the taxi driver. The four men then fled on foot.

The taxi driver did not sustain any injuries during the assault.

All four men were later located and arrested by police.

Glenorchy CIB are seeking information from any persons concerning those responsible or who may have seen the four men prior, during or after the alleged robbery.
