Attempted theft and assaults in Reservoir

Reservoir police are investigating following the attempted theft of a car in Reservoir earlier this year.

The incident occurred on the corner of Lane Crescent and Carrol Street about 2.45pm on 2 February.

Investigators have been told the victim left his car running whilst he went into a nearby construction site to get equipment.

A co-worker who was parked in front of the car that was stolen saw a man, believed to be in his 30’s, creep up and enter the vehicle.

The co-worker approached the offender and confronted him before grabbing the steering wheel to stop the man from driving off.

The car reversed and hit the gutter causing the victim to receive minor injuries to his abdomen.

The first victim then returned and also confronted the male who produced a knife and threatened the two men.

The offender then drove forward towards the car owner, causing the co-worker to be flung from the vehicle causing injuries to his arms.

The male then jumped out of the car and ran from the area.

Investigators have released CCTV and an image of the man who they believe will be able to assist with the investigation.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, with a solid build and short brown hair.

He was wearing a black jumper, a white tee shirt and jeans.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
