Australian Defence Force recruiting: no experience or qualifications required

Whether on base, on land or at sea, in some respects working for the ADF can be much like being employed in a comparable civilian role (if there is one). However, you are likely to enjoy far more variety, along with life-changing experiences such as assisting communities affected by conflict or natural disasters.

You will learn to prioritise tasks, make quick objective decisions, be positive and goal-oriented, achieve high standards, delegate effectively and be a great communicator.

If you’re the kind of person who likes working in a team environment and taking charge in challenging situations, the ADF will turn you into an effective leader.

Australian Defence Force (ADF) Recruiters are normally face to face with the Australian community, visiting schools and hosting information sessions. COVID-19 has put a stop to this, but it hasn’t put a stop to recruitment into the Navy, Army or Air Force.

There are options for people with a broad range of skills and interests. Some of the roles on offer are:

  1. Infantry Soldier – Army Reserves https://www.defencejobs.gov.au/jobs/reserves/army/infantry-soldier
  2. Warehouse Store Person – Army https://www.defencejobs.gov.au/jobs/army/warehouse-storeperson
  3. Marine Technician – Navy https://www.defencejobs.gov.au/jobs/navy/marine-technician
  4. Driver – Army https://www.defencejobs.gov.au/jobs/army/driver

You can find all jobs here: https://www.defencejobs.gov.au/jobs

You don’t require experience or qualifications to pursue an ADF career. The ADF pays you while you train and you can earn industry-recognised qualifications. To explore your options in the ADF visit www.defencejobs.gov.au or calling 13 19 02.

In general terms, you must be an Australian citizen to serve in the Navy, Army or Air Force, but there are some exceptions.
