Camden Council has launched a new Event Planning Guide to help community groups, event organisers and residents understand what is involved in planning and delivering their events across Camden.
The guide provides practical information to assist with the planning and development of events and activities held on Council-owned land, including the approvals, responsibilities and requirements that may apply.
It covers the requirements involved in applying for and approving both low impact and large-scale events, helping organisers understand what they need to consider when planning an event.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Vince Ferreri, said the new guide would make it easier for event organisers to understand the process and plan events that were safe and enjoyable for the community.
“Events bring our community together, create opportunities to celebrate and connect and contribute to the vibrancy of Camden,” he said.
“I know many of our residents love attending local events and supporting local causes. Events are often the highlight of the week for families and friends getting together.
“But events can only be a success if organisers understand the necessary requirements and they are safe for everyone who attends. This guide provides a helpful starting point for anyone looking to hold an event on Council land, with clear information about the approvals and responsibilities they need to consider.”
The Event Planning Guide is intended as a guide only and does not replace the need for event organisers to obtain any statutory approvals or permits that may be required.
