We’ve updated the Critical Minerals Strategy to focus on areas that can offer the greatest economic and strategic value.
It outlines where the Australian Government can support the critical minerals industry, from mining more resources to developing capacity to process those resources on shore.
In 2023, the government committed to review the strategy so that it remains aligned with our national interests. The updated strategy will continue to guide the sector to 2030.
The refined 6 focus areas are:
- accelerate strategically important projects
- attract investment and build global partnerships
- involve First Nations communities
- be a world leader in sustainable mining and production
- improve infrastructure and regulatory systems
- grow a skilled workforce.
This update reflects on our progress and highlights initiatives that support the sector.
