Labor Rush Buyback Without Regulations

NSW Nationals

The Minns Labor Government has rushed out details of its uncosted, unfair, and unworkable buyback scheme before the regulations have been introduced to parliament.

Police Minister Yasmin Catley revealed that despite working through regulations for “almost two years” – well before the terror attack in Bondi – the Minns Labor Government won’t bring them to Parliament until next year.

NSW Nationals Leader Gurmesh Singh said Labor is rushing through a buyback that won’t take a single illegal gun off our streets, and has no regulations.

“Why would anyone participate in the buyback before seeing the regulations or list of exemptions?” Mr Singh said.

“If you weren’t convinced after Labor gagged regional MPs from speaking on the flawed buyback in Parliament, this is further proof that Labor has abandoned regional communities and law-abiding firearms owners.”

Deputy Leader of the NSW Nationals Kevin Anderson said it’s unworkable for the buyback to commence during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

“It’s clear no consultation was done. Local police need to be on the streets keeping us safe during our busiest time of the year. I’ll be calling on the Minns Labor Government to change this immediately,” Mr Anderson said.
