AVTOP scheme activated for victims of October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks

Department of Home Affairs

The Australian Government has activated the Australian Victim of Terrorism Overseas Payment (AVTOP) to support Australians who have been impacted by the 7 October Hamas terrorist attacks in Southern Israel.

The declaration of these terrorist attacks means that eligible Australians who were harmed, or lost a close family member, as a result of the attacks may seek a one-off payment of up to $75,000 in financial assistance.

The AVTOP scheme does not replace other forms of financial or medical assistance that may be available to Australians in the region.

More information about the AVTOP scheme is available from www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/avtop or by calling Services Australia on 1800 040 226.
