Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, Scott Buchholz has today acknowledged the Australian heavy vehicle industry at the Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) National Awards, in Brisbane.
Mr Buchholz said the HVIA awards were a celebration of the heavy vehicle industry as a driver of our regional economies, including in innovation and transport.
“All of you in this room today are hard-working members of an industry that is critical to the nation, but critical to the economy and especially those regional economies reliant on mining and agriculture.
“Without the trucks and trailers, we are unable to move the food and fibre, minerals and miners across this great country that is seeing more jobs, more investment and a recovery post-pandemic in the national economy.
“It is the business owners, apprentices, managers and drivers, many in this room who excel in providing transport solutions, driving innovation and safety improvements that is making the transport sector more productive and profitable and our roads safer.
“You have heard the Prime Minister say it time and again, our government is about technology, not taxes, we are about choice, not mandates and in this industry, you are leading the way in better technology and choice for your consumers,” Mr Buchholz said.
Taking the lectern alongside CEO of the HVIA, Todd Hacking, Mr Buchholz announced the HVIA’s Safety Innovation Award winner.
“I congratulate this year’s winners in the Safety Innovation Award category and I am very pleased to see the HVIA have two categories of awards, the Highly Commended and the Safety Innovation award, at this year’s presentation.
“Congratulations to Mass Products on their Highly Commended award, for the Road Pod and to the overall winner, DriveRisk Australasia for their drive cam and risk detection.
“Again today, I congratulate the entire heavy vehicle industry; transport operators, manufacturers, repairers and drivers on a job well done.
“The Morrison Government has worked hard, and we have taken the feedback of your industry body and leaders, to deliver policies that have worked to build a stronger heavy vehicle industry.
“Through the Instant Asset Write-Off, Backing Business Investment and Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy to help you to create the opportunities for young people and of course, our backing business investment – accelerated depreciation program,” Mr Buchholz said.
Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) today announced the winners of a suite of awards, for leadership and innovation, in the heavy vehicle sector. Mr Buchholz congratulated award recipients.
