Labor is building a bigger, better hospital for Ballarat families.
Premier Ben Carroll toured the construction site today as the $655 million redevelopment enters its final phase.
Stage 3 is delivering a new multi-level hospital tower, which includes:
- a new emergency department
- 100 more inpatient and short stay beds
- a new state-of-the-art theatre suite
- a new helipad
- a new and expanded perinatal hub (pregnancy to post-birth services)
- a new and expanded critical care floor.
Once complete, the hospital will be able to treat at least 14,500 more inpatients and 18,000 more emergency patients every year.
That’s faster care for more locals.
It will also deliver more local jobs, creating up to 1,000 permanent jobs once fully operational.
On track for completion in 2027, the modern hospital will serve the community for decades to come.

A One Nation-Liberal Coalition will axe projects like the Ballarat Base Hospital redevelopment.
Last time they were in power, the Liberals cut billions from hospitals – now they’re promising $40 billion in budget cuts.
You cannot deliver that without cutting the frontline care.
That means privatised hospitals and nursing jobs slashed.
Victorians can’t afford that.
