Ballina Shire Concert Band is turning 140 years old! To celebrate this impressive milestone, they are hosting a special anniversary concert for the community at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre on Saturday 6 May 2023.
The concert will celebrate the band in its current form and acknowledge its proud history by featuring music and memorabilia from 1883 to 2023. Past band members and associates are invited to share in this celebration and are encouraged to register their interest. The band is also seeking information about its history for a memorabilia display.
“The Ballina Shire Concert Band has been a regular performer at many local Ballina Shire community events and commemorations,” said Ballina Shire Concert Band President, Dick McCoy.
“The band started with just 10 members in 1883 and today has over 35 active members ranging in age from 12 to 94. We come together every Wednesday evening to celebrate our collective passion for music.
“If you have any old photos, competition trophies, stories, or other relevant memorabilia you can contribute, the band would love to hear from you at [email protected]. New members are also welcome.”
