Bayside small businesses to receive rebates

Small businesses in Bayside who’ve been economically impacted by COVID-19 will receive rebates on fees as part of Bayside City Council’s small business economic support package.

At last night’s Ordinary Meeting of Council, Bayside’s Councillors resolved to provide an economic support package to help local traders who are no longer operating due to the closure of non-essential services.

Many of Bayside’s small businesses and local traders are experiencing unprecedented financial distress as a result of COVID-19.

The complete small business economic response includes:

  • An immediate six (6) month rebate on fees for Food Act registrations and Footpath Trading permits.
  • Three (3) month rent deferral to commercial tenants of Council owned buildings.
  • Access to Council’s hardship policy to property rates on Commercial properties where their business has been extensively impacted.

As part of the response, Council will develop and promote online tools to support businesses to develop e-commerce online services, as well as providing information on Council’s website at bayside.vic.gov.au/business dedicated to informing small business owners on updates and support from all tiers of government available in response to COVID-19.

The economic response package provides timely, and much needed support to affected businesses, workers and the broader community.

Both State and Federal Governments are offering further economic support to business owners.
