Beach patrols to start

MidCoast Council

With the weather warming up and the spring school holidays upon us lifesaving patrols will start to kick off at beaches across the MidCoast this weekend.

Surf lifesaving patrols are back on our beaches with both volunteers and Council’s contracted service provider, Australian Lifeguard Services, keeping swimmers safe these school holidays.

Lifeguards will be on patrol during weekdays from 9am – 5pm during the school holidays at Bennetts, Elizabeth, Forster Main and One Mile Beaches. Boomerang Beach will be patrolled seven-days-a-week.

In addition, local Surf Lifesaving Clubs will provide beach patrol services on weekends and public holidays at Bennetts, Black Head, Crowdy Head, Elizabeth, Forster Main, Old Bar and One Mile beaches.

It’s also a perfect time to acknowledge Andrew Sneglar who took out the Lifeguard of the Year award for the 2022-2023 season recently.

Andrew was awarded for his commitment, hard work dedication and passion in doing what he loves for the community.

Last season, over 222,000 people were recorded visiting MidCoast Council beaches during lifeguard patrols, where lifeguards performed 41 rescues and 156 first aids.
