Bendigo tourism conference to return in 2020

The highly successful one-day tourism conference, Bendigo NEXT, returns to The Capital next February with a focus on local food networking, winter tourism, agriculture and sustainability tourism, and social media workshops.

City of Greater Bendigo Manager Tourism and Major Events Terry Karamaloudis said last year’s Bendigo NEXT conference was a huge success and attracted over 165 attendees, including many who had travelled from neighbouring shires, Ballarat, Echuca and Melbourne.

Supported by the City, the Bendigo NEXT conference is not to be missed if you want to hear about future trends, learn from some of the best visitor experiences that Victoria has to offer and understand emerging markets in the tourism industry.” Mr Karamaloudis said.

“With our region’s recent designation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy we have invited experts in local food networks to take part in the conference, including award-winners and tourism gurus who have tapped into agritourism and sustainability as niche markets so I would urge people to book their place now.

“Bendigo NEXT will also be exploring storytelling, how social media can drive sales, winter tourism and great tips for small businesses looking to expand their core activities with complimentary experiences.”

Visit Victoria Head of Regional Tourism and Strategy Paul Matthews and Melbourne International Arts Festival Patrizia Fimiani, who merged this year’s festival with White Night will be among the keynote speakers at the Bendigo NEXT conference on Monday February 17, 2020 at The Capital.

Other guest speakers at the conference include farmer, food advocate and tourism development specialist Jade Miles, Big 4 Holiday Parks Board Director and social media strategist Sophie Bone, Manager Katrina Reynolds from award-winning Yarra Valley Estate and Edible Forest and founder of the Lost Trades Fair Lisa Rundell.

“Those attending this one-day event can take advantage of practical workshops and networking opportunities on the day. There will be a focus on helping small businesses grow and gain an edge so they can prepare for an ever-changing industry.”
