Better Access Starts Online

We have made changes to our website to make information easier to find and understand.

The website now includes additional accessibility features designed to make information easier to access and navigate – something Bayside’s 2023 Citizen of the Year Ade Djajamihardja says can make a significant difference.

Ade lives with vision impairment and limited movement in one hand. He said simply using a website can take concentration, patience and support.

“Using a website can be tiring,” he said. “I may be trying to read with a limited visual field, scan the page, understand where I am, and work out what to click next.”

The Reading Guide feature available through the website’s accessibility menu helps Ade follow text more easily and navigate pages with greater confidence.

“One of the hardest things for me is finding the text on the page and then scanning across it by moving my head,” he said.

The accessibility menu includes features such as screen readers, text resizing and contrast adjustments.

“Accessibility is about making information easier for everyone to use,” Ade said.

Our website is the easiest way to report a problem or request a service. Reporting directly to us means we receive your request and images directly which saves time.
