Bewildered Butler at it again

Elise Archer,Attorney-General and Minister for Corrections

The Tasmanian Government has always committed to a fair, transparent and thorough consultation process for the proposed Northern Regional Prison. This has consisted of personal meetings with myself and my department, correspondence, a public meeting and participation in surveys since September 2019.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, there has been some understandable but necessary delay, although not according to Ms Butler.

Instead of guessing and purely making things up about what is or isn’t in the Social and Economic Impact Study (SEIS), motivated by one-upmanship in her electorate of Lyons with her Leader Ms White, I urge the Labor Member for Lyons Jen Butler to be patient.

As I have said, we intend to make an announcement about this important infrastructure development and, at the same time, also publicly release the Social and Economic Impact Study.

I look forward to making this important announcement soon.
