Bibbenluke, Bombala, Cathcart, and Delegate bin collections delayed

Collection truck picking up recycling bins on a Snowy Monaro street in the early morning

Following a public notice earlier today, Council can confirm that bin collections scheduled for Monday 2 September 2024 in the Bibbenluke, Bombala, Cathcart, and Delegate collection areas will be completed tomorrow, Tuesday 3 September 2024.

This delay in completing these scheduled collections is due to the large number of bins overturned by the powerful winds hitting the region over the last 48 hours.

The collection truck driver has been stopping along the route all day today, picking up resident’s bins, putting back any spilled waste, returning the bins to the kerb, then emptying the bin as normal.

With the volume of household kerbside bins affected by the recent extreme winds, it has not been possible to complete the full collection schedule today.

Kerbside waste (red-lidded bin) collection will be completed on Tuesday 3 September 2024, with recycling collection to be completed on Wednesday 4 September 2024. If high winds continue through the week, there may be additional delays to the completion of collections.

Council will issue further notification in the event of any further delays.

What you can do to help

If the winds continue, please keep your bins in a sheltered location on your property for as long as possible before taking them to the kerb for collection.

This will help ensure fewer bins are tipped over, which will prevent litter escaping and make the completion of these delayed collections as quick as possible.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these delays, and we appreciate the community’s understanding.
