Big live music names coming to Altona

Live From Altona Theatre

An impressive all-Australian line-up is coming to the Altona Theatre over three big Thursday nights as part of a new program of contemporary music – Live from the Altona Theatre, presented by On The Road Again.

Kicking off the series on Thursday 25 August is alternative artist Didirri, and one of Australia’s most exciting singer/songwriters, ARIA Award nominated musician, Mo’Ju.

Acclaimed singer Emma Donovan and rhythm combo The Putbacks will star on Thursday 22 September, supported by southern soul specialists, The Meltdown.

Wrapping up the series are highly acclaimed and much-loved sisters Vika and Linda on Thursday 27 October, with James Henry opening.

Live from the Altona Theatre is part of On The Road Again, a Victorian Government initiative to bring live music back across the state.

Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Councillor Peter Hemphill, noted that he is thrilled On The Road Again is bringing some of Australia’s best live performers to Altona.

“Thanks to funding from the state government, we’re able to present an incredible contemporary live music program which will appeal to music lovers and will be a great night out right here in our neighbourhood,” said Cr Hemphill.

“Altona Theatre is one of the few purpose-built theatres in Melbourne’s west, and it will make for a very special and intimate experience. We can’t wait for our local community, and people from around Melbourne, to come and experience live music in the heart of our city.”

Minister for Creative Industries, Steve Dimopoulos MP, said:

“On The Road Again reaffirms and celebrates our reputation as the live music capital of Australia, bringing performers back to stages across our city, suburbs and regions, and turbocharging the return of our live music scene.

“With a brilliant line-up of Victoria’s most exciting and beloved musicians, Live from the Altona Theatre is not to be missed, and we’re proud to partner with Hobsons Bay City Council to make it happen.” OFFICIAL
